Get Your Pride On!
York Pride Parade
Main St South, Newmarket.
Saturday, June 16th @3pm
This year's festival theme is: All Together Now!
York Pride Parade has grown to a bustling extravaganza of over 50 groups showcasing the many supporters of diversity in one of Canada's most vibrant and inclusive regions.
The parade on Main Street will start at the Ontario St intersection, proceeding south to Water St.
Due to road closures prior to the parade and other concurrent events in downtown Newmarket, early arrival is strongly recommended! There will be lots to do on Main St prior to the parade with plenty of lunch options and many local businesses offering Pride specials.
The day’s celebrations will continue with Pride on Riverwalk, featuring live performances, activities for all ages and a grand firework finale at Riverwalk Commons in Newmarket.

Throughout the afternoon and evening of our parade, we will be hosting our main Pride festival event at Riverwalk Commons in downtown Newmarket - just a few metres away from the end point of the Pride Parade. It will feature entertainment, fun activities, our community fair and much more.
As with all our events, we extend an invitation to all families and friends, not only within the LGBT+ community but also the community at large.
The Newmarket Craft Beer and Food Festival will be located north of Riverwalk Commons. And, on the south side of Water St, Fairy Lake Park will be home to the 21st Annual Artisan's Festival.
With so much to enjoy, all within easy walking distance, this will be an action-packed day in downtown Newmarket that you won't want to miss!
Our
community fair
will feature selected vendors as well as a wide selection of local community organizations. They will offer information on LGBT plus other equity related services, as well as insight into local arts and culture.
Our
live stage
will commence immediately following the Pride parade and will feature perfomances by a varied selection of local entertainers. Stay tuned for details of our stage line-up to be announced soon.
Check out Newmarket's "giant little library" alongside our community fair. Take a book to read at your leisure or while you relax for some time by the river. We're plannng to have some Pride themed books on offer during our event. Once you're finished enjoying please bring the book back or bring another book that you'd love to share with your community.
Our range of
activities, catering for all age groups, will include inflatables, rock-climbing, crafts, little reptiles and more.
For a quick snack, check out our
food vendors
or enjoy a drink in our
beer garden. Around Riverwalk Commons, both the Ground Burger Bar and Cachet offer full menus, licensed bars and patios.
And lastly, our event will conclude with a
firework display
at 10.30pm.
Free parking will be available between noon and 11pm on Charles St, just a ten minute walk from Riverwalk Commons along the scenic Tom Taylor Trail beside the Holland River. But we recommend arriving early to ensure available space.
A Night for Love and Kindness
Aubergine Kitchen
&
Bar, 235 Main St, Newmarket
Tuesday, June 12th @ 6pm-10pm
In collaboration with the onePULSE Foundation, a Night for Love and Kindness is York Pride's way of commemorating the 49 innocent victims from the Orlando Pulse shooting in 2016.
Each year, York Pride hosts A Night for Love and Kindness on the anniversary of the Pulse shooting to show support for everyone whose lives were affected by this tragedy and to recognize the compassion and love that was displayed globally following this devastating incident.
Join us on June 12th at Aubergine on Main Street for A Night for Love and Kindness to take back the night with us, as we build more spaces for queer folk with our friends and supporters. Let’s be different, let’s enjoy ourselves, let kindness be our actions and let love drive change.
Our event is for all ages and will feature live music, open mic, snacks and more!
Orlando United Day on June 12th is an opportunity to join with others in Acts of Love and Kindness to continue the unity that followed the tragedy. Engaging in the activities taking place on this day is a respectful and loving way to remember and honor the lives of those taken and to show compassion to those who need support.

Flag Raising Ceremonies
York Pride is delighted to announce that rainbow flag-raising ceremonies will be hosted the majority of municipalities across York Region, as well as by York Regional Police at the regional headquarters and district police stations.
The rainbow flag originated in San Francisco and was created by artist, designer, Vietnam War veteran and drag performer, Gilbert Baker. The different colors within the flag represent togetherness because the LGBTQ2S community comprises people of all different races, ethnicities, ages and genders. Each individual color has its own meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for harmony and purple for spirit.
Join mayors, councillors and staff of our town and cities, police officers and staff, representative from York Pride Fest and other local LGBTQ2S organizations, as we celebrate the launch of York Region's 18th Pride Week Festival at these official flag-raising ceremonies.

To become an Affirming Ministry the congregation of Richmond Hill United Church undertook a process of education, discussion and discernment, had a congregational vote, and declared itself to be a faith community that embraces diversity and the participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. At a congregational meeting, the congregation of Richmond Hill United Church overwhelmingly voted to become an
’Affirming Ministry’.
In celebration of the fifth anniversary as an affirming ministry, the service will feature amazing music thanks to the voices of
’Singing Out’, a 20-voice LGBT choir from Toronto, combined with inspirational organ playing by music director Barry Peters. Come early and enjoy the music of Singing Out, who will sing prior to the service, beginning at about 10:15am.
