A Night for Love and Kindness
a Hui Hou Coffee House, 208 Main St, Newmarket
Wednesday, June 12th @ 7pm-10pm
In collaboration with the onePULSE Foundation, a Night for Love and Kindness is York Pride's way of commemorating the 49 innocent victims from the Orlando Pulse shooting in 2016.
Each year, York Pride hosts A Night for Love and Kindness on the anniversary of the Pulse shooting to show support for everyone whose lives were affected by this tragedy and to recognize the compassion and love that was displayed globally following this devastating incident.
Join us on June 12th at a Hui Hou Coffee House on Main Street for A Night for Love and Kindness to take back the night with us, as we build more spaces for queer folk with our friends and supporters. Let’s be different, let’s enjoy ourselves, let kindness be our actions and let love drive change.
Our event is for all ages and will feature live music, open mic, snacks and more!
Orlando United Day on June 12th is an opportunity to join with others in Acts of Love and Kindness to continue the unity that followed the tragedy. Engaging in the activities taking place on this day is a respectful and loving way to remember and honor the lives of those taken and to show compassion to those who need support.

Flag Raising Ceremonies
York Pride is delighted to announce that rainbow flag-raising ceremonies will be hosted by the majority of municipalities across York Region, as well as by York Regional Police at the regional headquarters and district police stations.
The rainbow flag originated in San Francisco and was created by artist, designer, Vietnam War veteran and drag performer, Gilbert Baker. The different colors within the flag represent togetherness because the LGBTQ2S community comprises people of all different races, ethnicities, ages and genders. Each individual color has its own meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for harmony and purple for spirit.
Join mayors, councillors and staff of our town and cities, police officers and staff, representative from York Pride Fest and other local LGBTQ2S organizations, as we celebrate the launch of York Region's
nineteenth
Pride Week Festival at these official flag-raising ceremonies.
