To launch this year's Pride month we are celebrating as well as reflecting.
On June 12th, we remember the lives of our brothers and sisters that were taken away at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando in 2016. This is a true reminder that hate can be deadly in our communities. We must stay positive and continue to claim and create safer spaces for all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to thrive and connect in.
A Night for Love
&
Kindness will kick off Pride in York Region as we honour the Angels of Pulse, while virtually promoting inclusivity, unity and love in York Region.
This event is presented in collaboration with the Orlando OnePulse Foundation and YRGSA North, a local 2SLGBTQ+ youth group in Newmarket. This is an opportunity to come together and showcase the beauty and importance of what makes us different.
The meaning behind this event has been turned into an uplifting time to stand strong and express the importance of safe spaces. This year, York Pride wants to highlight the importance of WHY we celebrate Pride together and that’s why we have decided to launch our 2020 Pride programming on this historic day.

Pride Church Service

Richmond Hill United Church invites you to an online Pride worship service.

Since 2013, Richmond Hill United Church has been an
’Affirming Ministry’ within the United Church of Canada.
The Affirming Ministries Program is a network of United Church congregations and ministries that declare themselves to be fully inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. To become an Affirming Ministry, the congregation of Richmond Hill United Church undertook a process of education, discussion and discernment, had a congregational vote, and declared itself to be a faith community that embraces diversity and the participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. At a congregational meeting, the congregation of Richmond Hill United Church overwhelmingly voted to become an "Affirming Ministry".
Voguing For Vitality

On June 17th experience Voguing For Vitality! A confidence and community building self-expression workshop and experience inspired by the incredibly diverse culture of Voguing.
Join founder and creator, Robert Halley, along with Robert’s chosen family, Haldi Sulejmani and James Williams as they guide us through body positivity, life-affirming and creative movement exercises.
Be yourself during this opportunity to unravel stress, empower yourself and discover more authentic versions of you.
Voguing is one of the most culturally rich sub-cultures that emerged in the boroughs of New York City, established through the Harlem Ballroom Scene by Black
&
Latin queer communities. Inspired by fashion, this freestyle form uniquely fuses modeling, theatre
&
dance. Voguing is an outlet fueled by our heart’s imagination, to have fun, exercise, heal, and build community.

York Pride will be the first PRIDE in the GTA to offer a virtual experience box to help you celebrate York Pride in a new way. Inspired right here in Newmarket by our friends over at Cachet Supper Club.

- Wait until PRIDE DAY (June 20th) to connect and open your box LIVE with us!
- At 3pm on June 20th we will be live streaming the event on the front page of this website.

Netflix Party

Come cozy up with us as we dive into 2SLGBTQ+ culture and history with the LIVE viewing of
“The Death and Life Marsha P. Johnson”, a free spirit and a trans activist in 1969 during the stonewall riots. It’s important that we honour and remember those that paved the road towards our rights. This night is sure to warm your hearts as well as remind you how real the struggles are for many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Grab your favourite drink, we suggest getting a VIV, York Pride’s Summer Seltzer from Market Brewing Company, and a fresh hot bowl of popcorn!
