    York Region Pride Parade
    Saturday, June 18th, 2016 at 2pm
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Incorrect rumours are circulating about our parade. Please be aware that the parade will be going ahead as planned. It has definitely NOT been cancelled. We have however replaced our originally planned Pride In The Park event with our new Commmunity Pride event.
York Region Pride Parade 2015 York Pride Fest is delighted to announce that we will again be staging York Region's annual Pride Parade on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.
We are also proud to announce that Warren McDougall and Linda Butler, ministers at Richmond Hill United Church, will be our Parade Grand Marshals this year.
Richmond Hill United Church has also been selected as an honoured group in this year's parade, applauding the significant contribution of the church congregation to the promotion of inclusivity, acceptance and equality, and also celebrating the status of their church as an Affirming Ministry of the United Church. Honourees are selected annually by York Pride Fest in recognition of achievements that enhance the well-being of our region's LGBT community members.
York Region Pride Parade 2015 The parade will start at 2pm from the intersection of Yonge St and Crosby Avenue. Travelling south on Yonge Street, it will proceed past the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, before turning left on to Lorne Avenue. The parade will then continue east along Lorne Avenue, crossing Church Street and passing the Elgin Barrow Arena, before ending at Town Park.
We extend a warm welcome to all residents of York Region, as well as visitors from outside our region, to join us at this event. And we invite everyone in attendance to enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at our Community Pride event.
York Region Pride Parade 2015 Our parade is not just about Pride in the LGBT community. It celebrates and embraces inclusivity, equity and diversity in one of Canada's most vibrant, welcoming and tolerant regions.
York Pride Fest encourages participation by all groups, including community groups, non-profit organizations and businesses. We would particularly like to invite participation in the parade by local businesses and organizations wishing to capitalize on this opportunity to make visible their support for inclusivity and diversity in York Region.

Please note: We welcome individuals and organizations who wish to march together with another organization in our parade. However, for organizations wishing to display any of their own signage, we require that they register independently. During registration they may request that they are placed adjacent to another registered group in the parade line-up. It is a strict condition of participation that signage may not be displayed in the parade for any unregistered organization or company.
    Visiting From Toronto?
Our parade venue is very easy to reach by public transit from Toronto, in less than an hour:
    • Take the subway to Finch, the last station on the Yonge line. Subway trains run every 5 minutes and it takes 20-30 minutes to reach Finch station from downtown Toronto. The subway fare is $3.25.
    • When exiting at Finch, follow signs to the Finch bus station.
    • Take the Viva Blue bus north to Major Mackenzie. Viva Blue buses run every 8 minutes and it takes 25-30 minutes to reach Major Mackenzie from Finch. The bus fare is $4 cash, or $3.40 with Presto.
    • Walk 350 metres (4 minutes) north on Yonge Street to our parade route.
    Visiting by Car?
Yonge St will be closed to traffic between Crosby Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive between approximately 1.00pm and 3.15pm.
We recommend parking in the parking lot between Town Park and Elgin Barrow Arena. During the period that Yonge St is closed to traffic, this parking lot can be accessed from the east, via Pugsley Avenue and Vern Dynes Way.
